Top 50 Songs of 2011!

It’s that time of year that I post my Top 50 songs of 2011.  This is now the third year in a row that I’ve posted one of these lists, which I personally think is pretty cool.

In 2008 it was Leona Lewis with Bleeding Love; Taylor Swift’s You Belong With Me stole the show in 2009 and in 2010 Hey Soul Sister by Train came out at top.  But from the plethora of amazing songs released in 2011, which one will come out top this year?  Will it be Adele, who completely dominated the albums and singles charts with her songs full of emotion?  What about Katy Perry, who is currently vying for an unprecedented sixth straight #1 on the US Charts from the one album?  Or perhaps Lady Gaga will come out on top this year with a song from her latest album, released in May?  There’s only one way to find out!

Before you read on, you might like to revisit the past years and take a look at my list of the Top 50 Songs of 2009 or the Top 50 of 2010.

There’s a huge possibility that I forgot one (or more) songs from 2011 when compiling this list, however, unlike the past years, I’ve drafted and revised this list several times to try and minimise the possibility of that happening.  If, however, I did forget a rather prominent song, just assume it came in at #51.

Also, I’ve had to break up the post into several pages because if not the post would be extremely long.  It’s because I used big fonts to make the post look attractive, I guess.

    MISCELLANEOUS TRIVIA
~I started putting together the list on around the 24th, actually. It took a lot of refining and some drafts but I’m happy with the list I’ve put together, honestly. What took me the longest though was making it look great in terms of colours and headers and whatnot.

  2. You put so much work into this post, I totally agree 🙂 Except Marry the Night would have been my #1, God, I’m in love with that song. Sad it’s not doing well on the charts 😦

  3. WOW Josh, this is so amazingly and elegantly done! I am hands down impressed. 🙂

You’re choices are pretty brilliant too, although I do love me a little LMFAO as a guilty pleasure. They’re pretty generic, but it makes for some decent club dancing.

Coldplay are just the best thing to ever come out of music. I adore them! They are gold and Mylo Xyloto was my favourite album of 2011 as well 😀

Taylor Swift shined this year as always and I absolutely agree with your choices, they were real show stoppers. And Hot Chelle Rae are touring with her? NO WAY! I am so, so SO excited to see both of them (I’m currently addicted to Lovesick Electric, so I am seriously pumped to see them!!). I’m going to her Sydney concert with friends on my birthday, March 10th. Are you going to the Melbourne concert? 😀

I had no idea that’s what Pumped Up Kicks was about (I feel so ignorant!) 😦 But it was a brilliant song and I think it totally deserved your #1. I don’t know what my top song of 2011 would have been, but Pumped Up Kicks would definitely be in there somewhere. 🙂

Once again, this post is stunning, and you are awesome. You’ve introduced me to a heap of new songs too, which I am so keen to listen too. Except it’s 2:30am, so I’m going to do that in the morning… haha.

  4. @Chad; OMGOSH I love Marry The Night too <333333 Yeah I agree it's a shame it's not blitzing the charts, but oh well, the general public is missing out :c (And plus with SAIKI hitting #1 on the Billboard charts, you can see that doing well on the charts =/= a song is good. 😛

@Sas; Thankyou :3 That's awesome; I'm heading off to her concert on the 13th! 😀 Seriously, March is going to be awesome with Taylor AND The Hunger Games movie! Let me know what you think of the songs after you give them a listen (Y)

  5. I could not agree more. The first I’d actually heard her (aside from Chasing which I never liked) was Someone Like You LIVE at the Brit Awards. I ralley don’t like the album version at all.Would it be possible to know what font you used in your header? For Nothings Broken.

    • Yeah her live performance is really something special! Ummmm for the header, I’ll have to double-check but I think I used the Helvetica font? Or Verdana? Or Trebuchet Ms? Probably one of those three. I’ll check for you sometime soon hahaha.
